Zion National Park was our very first stop on our nine day Grand Circle Tour motorcycle trip. I’ll start off by saying that when we ride at home, I don’t ride on gravel or in the rain….ever! We started the morning with a beautiful short hike to the waterfall but the weather looked like it was going to turn and we had a long drive ahead of us so we left before we really had a chance to take the whole park in. About 10 minutes into the ride, it started raining and the entire road through the park was gravel. So riding on gravel with hairpin turns (it felt like about 30 miles or so) it was a real nail biter for me and I couldn’t really enjoy the scenery as much as I would have liked. I was quite sure I was going to die that day and wasn’t aware at the time that I would spend a good portion of the trip on gravel in the rain. I’d definitely make a return trip and hike some of the trails that we had to miss. We also very much enjoyed the town of Springdale which had some nice shopping and The Spotted Dog Cafe which served up probably one of the best meals of our trip.
