This is the granddaddy of all bridges-a man-made engineering marvel-and while it’s not really a destination, Golden Gate Bridge is surely one of San Francisco’s most famous landmarks and you can’t miss it. We did drive across it, but it is best viewed (and photographed) from land and there is no shortage of great places to view it. My recommendation for the best shot is The Marin Headlands which is a beautiful destination in itself. Located at the Point Bonita Lighthouse, these headlands offer a suspension bridge and hiking trail.
