The Covered Bridge Festival is actually an annual large craft and flea market type festival held in Parke County, Indiana which happens to be the “covered bridge capitol” of the world. When I first started going, it was basically for the crafts/antiques and fall foliage. But after many years of seeing the same old things being offered, I became more interested in the bridges. They are so beautiful and unique in their own way and each one has its own history. I decided this particular time to go on a covered bridge scavenger hunt if you will to try and find and photograph all 31 bridges. Now some of them are harder to find so this was not an easy feat for a long weekend. But I had an eager and willing partner whose love of covered bridges went beyond mine, my friend Wendy. I’m sad to say that we did not see them all but we had an amazing time trying and a great reason to return.
