St. Johns is the capital and largest city in Antigua. We only went there for the day, wihich I think was plenty, and were lucky to have been when no cruise ship was in port. Very clean and cute with brightly colored buildings and plenty of great souvenir shopping. Had a nice lunch and drinks at Hemingways.
93. Swimming with the Stingrays – Stingray City, Antigua
We chose to do a half day out swimming with the stingrays adventure on our Antigua trip and Stingray City was recommended by our hotel. We had such a wonderful time with this company and I would also recommend them. On arrival you’re briefed comprehensively on safety and stingray protocol and then whisked off on a short boat ride to a shallow reef with an army of stingrays swimming towards you. And, if you hold […]
92. Shirley Heights – Antigua West Indies
Shirely Heights is a famous spot on the island to party and watch the sun set. While the ride up there was quite long and bumpy, it was well worth it to see the harbor and that gorgeous sunset. There are local crafters there selling their wares at a bargain and some great musicians. The selection of food was limited and, in general, not that tasty either and the drinks are expensive. But the atmosphere is […]
91. Ziplining – Antigua Rain Forest
This was my first time ziplining and I’ll admit I was a little afraid. Another recommendation from our hotel we chose Antigua Rainforest Canopy Tours and they didn’t disappoint us. With an emphasis on safety, the exciting course offers a total of 13 thrilling zip lines, 3 aerial walk way bridges, 2 tree houses, 2 ‘Leap of Faith’ vertical descents, 9 elements of challenge course and 3 unique combination tours. It was an exhilarating experience to say […]
90. Adventure Island Eco-Tour – Antigua
This was one thing we signed up for well in advance of our trip and gratefully so. Eli Fuller, owner and operator of Eli’s Eco-Tour and Adventure Antigua, has spent his life roaming these waters and his eco-tour is his way of passing along his knowledge and appreciation of the area. It most certainly has paid off for him as this is probably the most popular thing to do and well worth the $$. With […]
89. Cocobay Beach Resort – Antigua, West Indies
I’m not much of a relaxer while on vacation but this place taught me what a vacation should really be. Located on a private beach and dotted with pastel colored cottages, I loved every inch of Cocobay Beach Resort. While the cottages do not have televisions or phones, they each have a private plunge pool, veranda and hammock. Most cottages have views of the beautiful turquoise bay that you could easily stare at all day long. […]
