The Trevi Fountain in Rome is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the whole world. Located at the junction of three roads (tre vie) marks the terminal point of the “modern” Acqua Vergine, the revived Aqua Virgo, one of the ancient aqueducts that supplied water to ancient Rome. While navigating these cobbled roads in search of the fountain, it’s probably easiest to just follow the thunder of the rushing water (the fountain spills about 2,824,800 cubic feet of water every day!) as it can be heard from blocks away. And if you are unable to visit in person, you can always visit virtually any time from anywhere with a WiFi connection by going to the Trevi Fountain Webcam.
It is said if you throw a coin over your shoulder into the Trevi Fountain you will be ensured a return trip to Rome. I did….so hopefully someday! It must be true right?
